As I walk around Elbow Cay early in the morning I love to look at all of the colorful signs that have made their way onto the coconut trees. The tradition of nailing a plank, fence slat or even a nice smooth piece of driftwood with your mainland hometown on it has become quite popular. It always amazes me at how many different people find themselves visiting our beautiful 5 mile island from so many different places.
It would be fun to play a game and see how many different states and countries you could collect on a stroll across the island. I’m sure that if you visited enough trees you could almost fill up an entire map! These signs show just how many people from around the world choose to spend their vacations on our beautiful island, and it makes me all the more grateful that I get to call such a desirable place my home.
