Sea Spray has been a vital part of the Elbow Cay community since Monty Albury and his wife Ruth first started building “Sea Spray” boats in the 1980’s. It evolved into the Sea Spray Resort and Marina and became a cherished experience for visitors, second home-owners and locals. Along with so many valued homes and businesses, Sea Spray was destroyed, in its entirety, by Hurricane Dorian September 1st, 2019.
February of 2022, Sea Spray was purchased by four old friends who, along with their families, have shared a love of Elbow Cay for many years. Francis Johnson, Harry Johnson, Donovan Smith and Mills Buxton grew up together in Charleston, South Carolina cultivating a passion for life on the water. That passion led the foursome straight to the Abacos.
The stewardship of building back Sea Spray is a great responsibility. It is a privilege to restore the historic property. Engaging in rebuilding the partnerships, the experiences and the friendships that are Sea Spray is set in motion.
Sea Spray Resort & Marina will be rebuilt in phases. Phase one – the marina will re-open late fall to early winter.
