This past weekend the Rotary Club of East Nassau, Harbourside Marine and Treasure Cay Resort came together to sponsor the 2018 Tuna Classic fishing tournament. April 13th and 14th fisherman from across the Abaco came together in the hopes of landing the heaviest fish which came with a $1,000 grand prize provided by Treasure Cay Resort and Marina. A full weekend of events came along with the tournament, including the Captain’s Meeting on April 12th and the Celebration Captains’ Cocktail Reception on the 14th both held at the Tipsy Seagull Bar. The event was a smashing success with a number of large catches being hauled in by the competing anglers. The event was also successful in the way it highlighted the great beauty and incredible fishing that is associated with the Treasure Cay area. The crystal clear waters, sunny skies and bountiful seas make the area a fisherman’s paradise. Not to mention it is the home of the Treasure Cay Beach, Marina & Golf Resort, a five star experience that is a must visit destination for anyone in search of a tropical vacation. Congratulations to Captain Kevin Aliengena and the crew of “No Pressure” David Marchese, Sean Snyder and Ian Suggit for winning in the “Heaviest Dolphin” Category weighing in at 16.1 lbs. A big shout out to all the anglers who competed in the event, and if you missed out make sure you put this popular event on your calendar for next year so you can throw in your own line for a chance at the grand prize!
